Case History

As a thriving city in the Roman era, Aquileia was an important hub for the Empire’s trade routes as well as being an important defensive outpost.

The preserved mosaics are a testimony of ancient glories. One of the archaeological sites where Roman remains can be admired, the CAL Foundations was restored with the use of IBIX machinery. Dirt and biological infestations were removed from the foundations of the historic buildings with the low-pressure blasting of extra fine almandite using the HELIX helical vortex cleaning system. Low pressure cryogenic cleaning with IB-ICE was instead used to clean the delicate mosaic tiles without creating any residues.
